The Wired Hide

Its name is reference to the electrical installation in this hide. It has a 12v solar panel and battery combination powering lights, heat mats & a stereo call back system. The lighting gives ample light for focusing on the owls in the dead of night and also acts to take away from bright flashes as the flash only just shines brighter than the 20w LED’s we have on constantly. This hide also has an inverter to supply a 230v 3 pin socket for charging phones and laptops. Tea and coffee facilities are supplied for your enjoyment and the hide is fully insulated. Currently we do not have a toilet at the hide but it is something we are working on in 2017 at all our hides.

The hide allows for photographs to be taken from ground level right up to the height of props and posts in the field from a vertical slot we have cut directly into the reflective glass we use for viewing - this offers changing backgrounds as you move your camera up. For camera support we have a Manfrotto system in place for your use, it offers a 3/8 bolt for you to attach your own tripod head onto.

We set most our hides up for 300mm with convertors as we feel that a hide experience is best when the wildlife is close up. Tele-convertors on a full frame 300mm combination then give extra reach should you feel you need it and zoom lenses are great for a variety of images. Certain species from this hide are also well accustomed to wide angle photography. Flash is required for the owl shoots from this hide we have them available for hire should you not own them.
